Visitors describe a long central hallway lined with identical doors. The corridor appears longer when someone attempts to leave than when they first entered.
Rooms move. Door numbers change. A staircase sometimes appears where a wall stood moments before.
People who walk the hallway alone often hear footsteps behind them.
The footsteps stop when they do.
Old photographs show children standing in front of The Nursery. Many of their faces are blurred, scratched out, or hidden beneath dark stains.
Town records contain no birth certificates, school files, or family histories connected to them.
Yet when Mara studies the photographs, certain faces seem familiar.
One child appears again and again, always standing slightly apart from the others and staring directly into the camera.
