Locations of Hollowridge

Hollowridge Main Street

Main Street is the social and commercial heart of Hollowridge. Old brick storefronts line both sides of the road beneath weathered signs and glowing streetlamps.

The pharmacy, hardware store, diner, library, newspaper office, and several family businesses appear much as they have for generations.

At night, reflections move in shop windows after the sidewalks are empty. Streetlights flicker one after another, following invisible footsteps toward the town square.

Locals notice. They simply know better than to say so.

Hollowridge County Courthouse

The courthouse contains more than a century of public records: property deeds, court filings, marriage licenses, birth certificates, death records, and official town histories.

Many documents contain corrections made in different inks. Some names have been erased so completely that even the paper beneath them appears newer.

Beneath the public archive lies a sealed vault that does not appear on the courthouse plans.

Inside rests the Original Manuscript—the oldest known version of the story of Hollowridge.

The Nursery

The Nursery is the most disputed location in Hollowridge.

Some residents remember a children's home beyond the northern ridge. Others recall a medical facility, a school, or a house used for interviews and memory experiments.

No surviving map places the building in the same location twice.

Its rooms, hallways, red door, and forgotten children form the central mystery of Mara Ellison's return.

The Changing Hallway

The Nursery's central corridor is lined with nearly identical doors, faded photographs, children's drawings, and hooks that still hold small coats.

Visitors describe the hallway becoming longer when they attempt to leave. Doors change numbers. Rooms trade places. Stairways appear where solid walls once stood.

Footsteps often follow anyone walking alone.

They always stop when the person turns around.

The Memory Room

The Memory Room contains photographs, interview notes, school records, handwritten observations, cassette tapes, drawings, and objects connected to the children who once passed through The Nursery.

Some photographs change when viewed a second time.

Faces become clearer. Names disappear. People move closer to the camera between one viewing and the next.

The room does not simply preserve memories.

It appears to sort, assign, and redistribute them.

Black Pine Forest

Dense forest surrounds Hollowridge on every side.

Roads curve through tall pines, steep hills, and deep ravines. Travelers occasionally pass the same sign or abandoned vehicle several times without turning around.

Voices carry between the trees, calling people by forgotten names.

Some believe Black Pine Forest protects the town from the outside world.

Others believe it keeps the people of Hollowridge from leaving.

The Ellison House

Mara returns to Hollowridge to settle her mother's estate and empty the house where she spent much of her childhood.

Inside are boxes labeled with dates Mara does not recognize, photographs of people she cannot name, old Channel 8 tapes, and handwritten warnings left by her mother.

Certain rooms feel smaller than Mara remembers.

One upstairs wall sounds hollow.

Behind it lies evidence that her mother spent years preparing for Mara's return.
